Golf is a difficult game to master, so why make it even more difficult by using golf clubs that don't fit you? Virtually everyone is a different shape or size, have a different athletic ability and despite the Pro’s best intent nearly all end up with their own characteristic swing, yet they are expected to use "standard" size golf clubs. The trouble is whose standard is standard? Every manufacturer have their own version of standard so who do you believe? Callaway, Ping, Titliest, or any of the other major league players? Or Your Local Custom Club Fitter and Builder. Trust me, you can trust me!

Most Club manufactures will offer you a customer fitted club. This may be from a demo day where you can hit balls with a variety of different length shafts, or if you are lucky, a pro will let you hit several balls on the driving range and decide that you need a club either an inch or half inch longer or shorter than "standard". You then pay out megabucks for a set of 'custom fitted' clubs and find it does not improve your game. Or if you are a beginner you believe that this must be right for you as you were ‘fitted’ by the pro, you then assume that golf is much harder than you could have imagined.

TRUE custom built clubs are really "custom built" each club is carefully assembled with components customised to fit your individuality.

Through extensive research it has been found that by dynamic fitting and careful selection of club components, you can build a set of clubs that give you the best possible fit to your build, ability and golf swing, thus improving your game. Every customer that I have custom fitted and built clubs for has improved their handicap by at least 25%.

So what is involved in ‘dynamic fitting’?

The first step is an appointment at the driving range, After a warm up of hitting a bucket of balls with your own clubs we get down to business.

Ø Your swing speed is measured, this is normally done with a mid iron, say #7 if you are being fitted for a set of irons, or if you are just after an individual club your swing speed is measured for that particular club. When you have hit sufficient balls your average club head speed can be determined. This is normally in miles per hour.

Ø Then club length is selected, this is done by hitting balls with clubs that have different lengths. The face of the club is coated with a special spray that shows the point of impact of the club on ball. The best length is determined as being the longest club that you can consistently hit the ball in the middle of the club head.

Ø This club is then used to determine the correct lie angle. This is achieved by hitting balls off a ‘lie mat’, the club head is covered with a tape, then when the head is in contact with the lie mat it leaves a mark on the tape. The correct lie angle is when this mark is consistently in the middle of the sole of the club. Any deviation from the centre is measured, this measurement is then used to calculate the correct lie angle for you.

Ø The last item to be measured is your hand size to ensure the correct size grip is fitted to your clubs. This is about the only measurement that is statistically  correct and can be used for all grips. However it is also a matter of preference especially if you have hand problems such as arthritic.

Up to now we have done nothing to measure you for the club head, that is because there is nothing to actually measure. Despite this there are hundreds of different heads to choose from, so this is what we do.

If you are upgrading from your old set of clubs we analyse the flight of the golf ball, from this we can determine if you need a club head that will promote ball height or distance. Also depending on your ability, whether you require a club head where you can ‘shape’ the ball flight or if you require a more ‘forgiving’ head that will make the best of your bad hits.

With all this information we can now go to the workshop where a custom club builder can select the best components for you. So lets move on to ‘Custom Club Building’.
